Manhattan, 6 out of 10
The Manhattan was “ok” - tasted “a bit diluted”, was served in a Martini glass, and the Luxardo cherry was already sunken upon arrival.
Shrimp Cocktail, 8 out of 10
The shrimp were a “decent size” and had a “very good snap.” The cocktail sauce had a “great bite.”
Filet Mignon, 26 out of 30
The barrel-cut filet was cooked to order. It had a good crust and seasoned well - the salt level was right, and the pepper worked (although I had to eat a few actual peppercorns, which I consider “unfortunate”).
Creamed Spinach, 9 out of 10
Excellent - great texture, consistency, and taste.
New York Cheesecake, 2 out of 5
The cheesecake was round instead of a wedge and it had a layer of caramelized sugar rather than a conventional bare top. The crust was like a chocolate cookie, with no graham cracker. Once through the “creme-brulee glaze”, the texture, temperature, and taste of the actual cheesecake was good.
The Room, 6 out of 10
The room was essentially one large area and could’ve used some more “intimate spaces” and partitioning. There was distinctive, pervasive red lighting with an overall well-measured dimness. Acoustics were fine - no problem having a conversation.
Service, 7 out of 10
Service generally good - relatively attentive and opinionated - however there was a long wait for the bill.
Extras, 3 out of 5
The bread arrived warm and while there was variety, it would’ve been nice if there was enough of each kind that everyone could’ve had their preference.
Value, 7 out of 10
The Manhattan was $20, the filet $67, the shrimp cocktail $27, the creamed spinach $19, and the cheesecake $16. Total of $149 - decent value all things considered.
